win some combination of wisconsin, iowa or new hampshire. >> the ohio news organization poll has it a dead heat in that state, 49%-49%. and also staying in the midwest, in minnesota, mitt romney's actually sliced president obama's large lead in that state. also an independent state, 47%-44 rs 47%-44% according to "the minnesota startribune." you also add on top of that, in iowa, you have a "des moines register" endorsement which is huge. >> that was a big endorsement. >> that is a huge endorsement of that state. they haven't endorsed a republican since richard nixon in 1972. there are few endorsements that still matter. really matter. in iowa, the des moines register endorsement matters. >> not only that, look at the artwork on the front page. >> all right. thank you, barnicle. >> it's tightening up in the midwest. >> the midwest, wisconsin, minnesota. but the wild card in this thing we've already alluded to it is this storm. >> yeah. >> how does it impact early voting? power outages that might continue for a week to ten days through election day. that is a true wild card. >> yeah. ma

much. it's very close with a slight edge to governor romney nationally and it may all come down to two states, ohio and wisconsin. charles: and speaking of which, those polls, you know, listen, over the weekend. you've got a lot of competition, and some of them i haven't heard of before, but seem to be a zillion and one polls to give the information, how are you feeling about the two key swing states now? >> i think both are too close to call. if i had to guess i think wisconsin is a little better for the republicans and a little better for the democrats. when i ook at the polls that are out there, in ohio, the rate, the numbers range from very from even to a very slight obama lead, but in none of them, or in very few of them is the president over the 50% mark. so, it looks like, you know, he's maybe 47, 48, 49%, and that means neither side can feel very confident. in ohio, the president is clearly leading among the early voters, which is fairly typical. the governor romney, much more enthusiasm from those who plan to vote and you know, that's going to be, will he get votes and peo

iowa or wisconsin. he's got multiple stops that will take him to iowa and wisconsin. i'll explain that in a few minutes, but it's all part of his midwest firewall. mitt romney's schedule also as busy. yes, you see two stops in ohio over the next three days. but look at this one here, lester. pennsylvania. it depends on who you talk to. some say it's an insurance policy for the romney campaign because they're worried they can't win ohio. others say it is him trying to get his 300 electoral votes, show that he's got momentum, show that he has got something in this race that could take him much farther than this narrow path to 270. >> polls start closing at 7:00 on the east coast time. what will you be looking at as a bellwether? >> half the battleground has polls closed at 7:00. this is all the polls that close before 9:00 p.m. a couple of things. i look at virginia, 7:00 p.m., and florida. if you believe mitt romney is narrowly ahead in both of those states, how quickly do we call them? does he win virginia by two or three points, florida by two or three points? if that's the case, it's
